VIIII (IX) 11: DEATH SPEEDS UP

NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN IX 11:  DEATH SPEEDS UP

1568 Lyon Benoist Rigaud

Well, OF ‘estaint’ is from OF ‘éteindre’ which can mean to extinguish or smother but also to cover up fully or mitigate something completely. I’ve made two translations of IX 11 for you, neither of which seems necessarily related to the infamous numbers “9/11” …

Translation 1:
The right to death, wrongly come to be more than normally
Accepted by the public, completely absorbs the masses:
A constricting great plague will be born in this place,
So that the authorities must restrict where plots of earth are dug.

Translation 2:
The judgement of death will be greatly misapplied
Publicly, massive numbers of snuffing outs:
In this place so great a bane will have entered the world,
That the entrenched in judgement will be reduced.

The people are wrong-headed and Death comes ‘exaggeratedly’, i.e. the Grim Reaper ‘accelerates’. (Mercy killings are to become inheritance suicidings?) The result of all this death poses a threat to public health and the authorities act to restrict access to burial places OR so many will drop dead that the ‘opinion leadership’ for this kind of finality dies off as well.

As is not unusual, the thin end of the wedge becomes a general approval or an unspoken acceptance of it which then gets noticeably diminished as the collateral damage becomes manifest.
